PE, Sport and Physical Activity

Our PE, School Sport and Physical Activity at Charles Darwin Primary

At Charles Darwin Primary, we strive to create a culture which inspires an active generation who feel confident and competent with PE, School Sport and Physical Activities (PESSPA).

Pupils and staff are encouraged to support each other and achieve exceptional outcomes. We provide a safe and supportive environment for children to flourish in a range of different activities which are essential in progressing their physical, cognitive, social, creative, personal, and healthy development.

We offer an engaging and dynamic program of activity to ensure that all children make physical progress through an inspirational, unique and fully inclusive PE curriculum.

We encourage all pupils to develop their understanding of the way in which they can use their body, equipment and apparatus safely, and imaginatively to achieve their personal goals.

All pupils have the opportunity to enjoy being physically active and maintain a healthy lifestyle to increase their self-esteem. We aspire for children to adopt an athlete mentality, to believe that anything can be achieved with a positive mind-set and resilience.

Within our PESSPA, our pupil's will have access to a wide range of external competition through our cooperation with the Norwich School Sports Partnership and Inter-Trust Primary School Championship throughout their educational journey at Charles Darwin Primary. We also foster our Athlete Mentality through termly Inter-House competitions, including our Sports Day in the Summer term.

Our Year 3 cohorts attend weekly swimming lessons at Riverside Leisure Centre which focus on the pupil's confidence and competency of a range of strokes and water safety. By Year 6, we ensure our pupils have developed this valuable life skill and assessed as confident and competent swimmers through organised Swimming Booster sessions.
