Year 6 were invited by Norwich School for the Norfolk Children’s Book Day. This visit saw 3 authors attending: Louise Gooding, Onjali Rauf and Julian Sedgewick.

Louise Gooding spoke about neurodiversity and everyone being proud of their unique self and how their brain works.

Onjali Rauf talked about refugees and the conditions they face. Onjali’s books raise money for a refugee charity. Her talk was inspiring and her books were popular choices for the children.

Julian Sedgewick talked about circus performing, and his cultural research travels to places like Japan. He spoke about the tsunami in 2011, for his book Tsunami Girl.

BookBugs and DragonTales were there for children to buy books, and these were then signed by the authors.

The children represented Charles Darwin exceptionally well, and they were super engaged.

All three authors had a challenge question at the end of their presentation, about a very specific thing they spoke about, to test the children’s listening skills. All three prizes were won by students from Charles Darwin.

Our children were inspired to read more and to see the world in different ways!
