This week at Charles Darwin Primary we have welcomed author and adventurer Will Millard into school to give talks about his adventures and book-writing exploits. A fantastic opportunity to inspire our pupils to believe they can also achieve amazing things!

There were tales from his adventures including trips to Papua New Guinea and all across the world. There were different activities too ranging from identifying a tree kangaroo to “Mexican waving” his pack raft across the school hall.

Our pupils were inspired by the visiting adventurer and were excited to learn all about his journeys, as well as wanting to head out on an adventure themselves.

Conveying a message of empathy and acceptance as part of his talks to the pupils, they left feeling inspired and ready to take on the world!

Will Millard was impressed by the pupils’ knowledge and said:

“The questions the children asked were exceptional!”

“It’s inspiring to spend a day with the future adventurers you have at Charles Darwin.”

You might recognise Will from his BBC documentaries and recent writing including the BBC Two series 'Hunters of the South Seas' and 'My Year with The Tribe' and his book 'The Old Man and the Sand Eel' which follows his wild journey across Britain in pursuit of a fishing record.

We are so proud to be able to offer our pupils wonderful opportunities to discover new things and inspire them to broaden their horizons.
